Question by : Your opinion on the Kitchenaid and other stand mixers?
I will soon be coming into some extra money, and have been considering buying a kitchenaid stand mixer. I would like to open a bakery one day (I say one day because I’m just out of high school) and really love cooking and baking. I have seen lots of great reviews, but I’ve also seen reviews that say the gears become stripped after kneading certain doughs or just a month of light use. What’s your opinion on your kitchenaid mixer or your opinion on whatever mixer you may have? I have recently bought a brand new hand mixer and haven’t used it yet. Should I just keep my hand mixer, or go for a kitchenaid mixer or try another brand? I’m just looking for suggestions from people who know.

I have a Kitchenaid mixer myself, which I absolutely love. I got mine with a 6 quart bowl, and the professional style mixer. It was a little more, but I feel well worth it.
For home use, it does everything I ask with no sweat. I have made all kinds of dough, from pizza to bread doughs, I’ve made cake batters, cookies, merengues, brownies. I’ve used the attachments for slaw, pasta, and grinding meat. It’s really a great machine, and I would highly recommend it for home use.

It really won’t work well for your professional bakery, however. It could possibly handle that kind of work load, I’m not sure since I don’t do that kind of baking. But the size is really the problem. You can’t make large enough batches for a professional operation. But for your first home stand mixer (and possibly your last), I would highly recommend it.

Hi,

I am considering buying a KitchenAid stand mixer. On Amazon.com these two mixers caught my eye: the Professional 5 quart and the Artisan 5 quart.

The Professional costs 9, and the Artisan costs 9. Cost really isn’t a big matter for me. I’ve heard a lot of good things about the Artisan and it seems like it’s the most popular out there. I haven’t really heard much about the Professional. Which mixer should I get? Please list some pros/cons if you know of any!

Both are great mixers, but check the Watts and how many attachments are available for each. If you would not have the need for many of the accessories, go with the lower price.

Chances are it’ll be in good shape. My family uses Overstock often and we have never had any problems with the company. Their customer service is also very helpful if you have any questions for the company personally.

I am trying to decide what kind of cookware set to buy. I don’t want to spend a lot (no more than 0, at most) and it doesn’t have to be the best, but I want a decent set that will last. I am looking at a KitchenAid Gourmet Reserved set for 9.99 (ceramic and aluminum) at amazon but I am clueless about what I really need. I cook often and I have an electric stove. I would like to get the best deal I can on a 5qt stand mixer, kitchenaid. I am not sure if I should buy a used one to save $ or if I will have better lifetime results with a new one. I am not a professional but love to bake and cook. Any information is welcome! Thanks

My husband buys electronics that are reconditioned and we’ve had really good luck with them. I love Kitchenaid products and I don’t think I would hesitate to buy a reconditioned mixer, especially if it comes with a guarantee or if it could be returned if there was a problem. Good luck!

New kam are 250.00 new so if its 10 years old id say 50 bucks its made money for you pass it on to some one who will enjoy making the best cookies or bread or pizza dough or just provide for a family in need , peace and love.

Reasons to buy high-watt KitchenAid stand mixer?

Question by Cal E: Reasons to buy high-watt KitchenAid stand mixer?
The Artisan model looks great at 325 watts. Are there good reasons to go to the 500+ watt models? Will the Artisan handle heavy, low-moisture dough, like pasta? Will it knead bread dough well? Any chance of burning out the motor? For occasional at-home use, any reason I might one day regret going with the Artisan?

Please answer if you have experience with one of these mixers.

That’s your chance with lower wattage mixers. My mother-in-law had the 325 watt and when I got a hold of it (Baking for Christmas) it burned the motor out. Remember, you get what you pay for.

Hey all,
I m planning to buy the kitchenaid 12cup food processor.
I want to know if it kneads dough for pizza and bread well…. coz that wld be my primary requirement.

PS: Is there any other appliance to knead dough? I tried a stand mixer but m not happy with the result.

No the processor is too fine and fast to get the proper knead for bread type dough.Hands are the best tool for this but if you must use equipment try a bread machine. You do not have to use the baking step just use it to knead for you. Enjoy your bread.

I have the ice cream maker attachment but I can’t get the drive assembly on because there is a small metal ring the shape of a circle blocking the way. Help?

I don’t know this product; but you might want to check if the “circle,” is an engagement / safety mechanism (very common to appliances). If it is you will find this part is either spring loaded, or requires some sort of lever be shifted.
In any case 1. always read the manual. 2. call a product support line.
